Why a Math Teacher Started a Chemistry Brand
Parents often asked, "Do you also teach Chemistry? My kids are so comfortable with you, can you guide them?"
As much as he wanted to, he couldn't. He wants the best for his students, and he knew he didn't have the right experience to teach Chemistry properly. Not himself, not well enough. So after countless messages like these, he built a small team of Chemistry specialists to guide his students the way he would. Every teacher is interviewed and held to the same standard and the same priority he holds himself to: helping students get better, in the shortest time possible.
How Tutors Get Vetted, and Why Most Don't Make It
-
1
Syllabus knowledge test
Applicants are tested on the 0620 syllabus itself, including exactly where Core ends and Supplement begins. A tutor who teaches Extended-only content to a Core student wastes lessons; one who skips Supplement caps an Extended student's grade.
-
2
Mark-scheme accuracy
They mark real 0620 past-paper answers against the official mark scheme. If their marking drifts from Cambridge's, their feedback will train students to lose marks. This stage filters out the most applicants.

Trial lessons, observed by Rig
Knowing chemistry and teaching it are different skills. Rig sits in on each new tutor's trial lessons and watches how they explain, question, and correct before any student is matched to them long-term.
Judge the vetting by its output
The free trial is the vetting process made visible: one hour with the specialist Rig matched to your child, taught like a real class. If the standard isn't obvious inside that hour, walk away. It costs nothing.
How Matching Works
Rig matches every student personally. No algorithm, no "next available tutor" queue. Your first WhatsApp message tells us the school, year, Core or Extended route, and target grade. From that, Rig shortlists the specialist whose teaching style and experience fit: a patient builder for a Year 10 starting early, or a past-paper drill specialist for a Year 11 eight weeks from the May/June series.
The match is then tested, not assumed. That's what the compulsory free trial is for. Wrong fit? We rematch free. The full class format is on the tutoring service page, and pricing is one line: RM80/hr, no packages.
What Rig's Math Parents and Students Say
These are real messages from the IGCSE Math side of Rig's teaching, the track record this Chemistry team is held to. We say "Math" plainly because they're Math results; Chemistry testimonials will appear on the results page as our students sit their exam series.
"Toby just told me he got an A for his test. Thank you so much for all your help!"
"He managed to get all A's for 5 subjects so far, including 81% for math, only 2 students got A. Thank you as always for your help!"
"I would recommend you to anyone, I can see Joel improved a lot and I'm happy with his progress so far. Thanks to you."
"Teacher, Math I got 93%!!!"
"Hi Teacher, I have been watching your videos from the start and I just want to say thank you soo much for teaching us. Really appreciate your teaching."
"Thank you so much Mr Rig for uploading these videos for free. You seriously don't know how helpful it is to many of us. Highly appreciate all your effort. Keep up the awesome videos!"
"Thank you, Teacher! My daughter went from E to B by watching your videos. I hope she will get an A for her exam!"
"He just told us his results, he got 85 out of 100! That's for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. He's super happy about it!"
"Hi Rig, Zhao Yu delivered a fantastic news in the last day of the term. It's another 100% for his assessment! Thanks again for all your help!"
An Honest Note on Results
Rig's 8+ years of A/A* results are in Math. That record is real, and it's the foundation of this brand's standard. The Chemistry arm is newer, so its results page grows as our students complete each exam series. We publish what our chemistry students actually score, not borrowed claims. See where it stands today on the results page.
Questions parents ask about Rig and the team
Does Rig teach the Chemistry classes himself?
No. Rig is an IGCSE Math teacher. Chemistry classes are taught by handpicked Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry specialists: tutors Rig has personally tested on syllabus knowledge and mark-scheme accuracy, then observed teaching before they joined.
How experienced are the Chemistry tutors?
Every tutor on the team is an experienced Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry specialist teaching IGCSE Chemistry specifically, not general science. Rig rejects applicants who can't mark a past paper to the official mark scheme.
How does the tutor vetting actually work?
Three stages: a 0620 syllabus knowledge test, a mark-scheme accuracy exercise on real past papers, and trial lessons observed by Rig. Pass all three or don't join.
How are students matched to tutors?
Rig matches every student personally, based on year, Core or Extended route, target grade, and learning style. The free trial then confirms the fit. If it's wrong, we rematch.
Where are your published Chemistry results?
On the results page, growing as exam series complete. The Chemistry arm is newer than Rig's 8+ years of Math results, so we publish chemistry grades as students sit their exams rather than borrowing claims.
