The Educator Who Vets Your Child's Tutor
Rig
Founder · IGCSEChemistry.com.my
- Mechatronics Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM)
- 8 years teaching IGCSE & SPM Math and Add Math
- 9,000+ subscribers watching his free math teaching videos on YouTube
- Personally interviews and vets every Chemistry tutor on this service
Rig trained as an engineer, then spent the last 8 years doing something engineers rarely do: teaching. Thousands of hours of 1-to-1 IGCSE and SPM Math and Add Math classes, and a YouTube channel of free add math lessons that has grown past 9,000 subscribers. He knows, from the inside, exactly what excellent exam-focused teaching looks like and how rare it is.
That's why this service exists. Instead of scaling his own teaching hours, Rig now applies that educator's standard to a different problem: finding and vetting Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry specialists, so parents don't have to gamble on a stranger. Every Chemistry lesson is taught by a vetted Chemistry specialist. Rig's job is making sure nobody joins the bench who doesn't teach to the standard he held himself to. A tutor who cannot teach to that standard never meets your child.
Why This Team Exists
Parents kept asking our founder for IGCSE Chemistry help to the same standard they trusted for math: a real specialist, exam-focused, who actually moves the grade.
Good Chemistry teaching is a specific skill, so rather than stretch one person across everything, we built a small team of Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry specialists. Every tutor is interviewed and held to one standard and one priority: helping students get better, in the shortest time possible. That standard was set over our founder's 8 years of IGCSE and SPM teaching, and no tutor joins the team until they meet it.
How Tutors Get Vetted, and Why Most Don't Make It
-
1
Syllabus knowledge test
Applicants are tested on the 0620 syllabus itself, including exactly where Core ends and Supplement begins. A tutor who teaches Extended-only content to a Core student wastes lessons; one who skips Supplement caps an Extended student's grade.
-
2
Mark-scheme accuracy
They mark real 0620 past-paper answers against the official mark scheme. If their marking drifts from Cambridge's, their feedback will train students to lose marks. This stage filters out the most applicants.

3
Trial lessons, observed
Knowing chemistry and teaching it are different skills. We sit in on each new teacher's trial lessons and watch how they explain, question, and correct before any student is assigned to them long-term.
Judge the vetting by its output
The trial lesson is the vetting process made visible: one hour with the tutor we assigned your child, taught like a real class. If the standard isn't obvious inside that hour, walk away. You'll have paid for one lesson, not a term.
How Your Child Gets Their Tutor
We keep the bench small on purpose: every tutor on it has passed the same three-stage vetting, so there is no quality lottery and no "next available tutor" queue. Your first WhatsApp message tells us your child's name, year, and current grade — enough to assign a vetted 0620 specialist and propose trial slots the same day.
The assignment is then tested, not assumed. That's what the compulsory trial lesson is for: the compatibility check, where your child meets their tutor before you enrol. Wrong fit? We assign a different tutor. The full class format is on the tutoring service page, and pricing is one line: RM80-90/hr, no packages.
What Students Say About Our Founder's Teaching
These are real messages from students and parents Rig taught personally — in IGCSE and SPM Math, not Chemistry. We label them plainly because that's what they are: the teaching standard every Chemistry tutor on this bench is vetted against. Chemistry testimonials will appear on the results page as our students sit their exam series.
"Toby just told me he got an A for his test. Thank you so much for all your help!"
"He managed to get all A's for 5 subjects so far, including 81% for math, only 2 students got A. Thank you as always for your help!"
"I would recommend you to anyone, I can see Joel improved a lot and I'm happy with his progress so far. Thanks to you."
"Teacher, Math I got 93%!!!"
"Hi Teacher, I have been watching your videos from the start and I just want to say thank you soo much for teaching us. Really appreciate your teaching."
"Thank you so much Teacher for uploading these videos for free. You seriously don't know how helpful it is to many of us. Highly appreciate all your effort. Keep up the awesome videos!"

"He just told us his results, he got 85 out of 100! That's for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. He's super happy about it!"
"Hi Teacher, Zhao Yu delivered a fantastic news in the last day of the term. It's another 100% for his assessment! Thanks again for all your help!"
An Honest Note on Results
Our founder's 8 years of teaching results are in IGCSE and SPM Math. That record is real, and it's the foundation of this team's standard. The Chemistry team is newer, so its results page grows as our students complete each exam series. We publish what our chemistry students actually score, not borrowed claims. See where it stands today on the results page.
Questions parents ask about our teachers
Who teaches the Chemistry classes?
Handpicked Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry specialists. Every teacher is tested on syllabus knowledge and mark-scheme accuracy, then observed teaching before they join. They teach IGCSE Chemistry specifically, not general science.
How experienced are the Chemistry teachers?
Every teacher on the team is an experienced Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry specialist teaching IGCSE Chemistry specifically, not general science. We reject applicants who can't mark a past paper to the official mark scheme.
How does the teacher vetting actually work?
Three stages: a 0620 syllabus knowledge test, a mark-scheme accuracy exercise on real past papers, and trial lessons we observe. Pass all three or don't join.
How is my child's tutor chosen?
We assign your child a tutor from our small vetted bench — every tutor has passed the same three-stage vetting, so there is no quality lottery. The trial lesson is the compatibility check: your child meets their tutor before enrolling. If it isn't working, we assign a different tutor.
Does the founder teach the Chemistry classes?
No. Our founder, Rig, is a math educator — 8 years teaching IGCSE and SPM Math/Add Math. His role here is quality control: he personally vets every Chemistry specialist on the bench and assigns your child one. Your child's tutor is always a vetted IGCSE Chemistry 0620 specialist.
Where are your published Chemistry results?
On the results page, growing as exam series complete. The Chemistry team is newer than our founder's 8 years of IGCSE teaching, so we publish chemistry grades as students sit their exams rather than borrowing claims.
